THE COMMON LINNETS

The Common Linnets are a Dutch country-pop group formed in 2013. Founding members Ilse DeLange and Waylon knew each other before the band's founding. They take their name from the word heikneuters, people from the eastern part of the Netherlands where both Ilse and Waylon are from. It is a reference to the songbird kneu, known in English as a common linnet. They were chosen internally to represent the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen with the song Calm After the Storm.
